Scan looks for batteries from accessories and devices already available through the system (for example items you have connected in Settings). You choose what to keep on your Volt list. Nothing from Scan is uploaded to a Volt server.

Volt can sync your device roster, nicknames, preferences, live battery readings, and battery history with your Apple iCloud account, so the same list can appear on your Apple devices. Sync uses your Apple ID through the iCloud Key-Value Store and your private CloudKit database. Volt does not run a separate cloud service that stores your roster. If iCloud is off for Volt, data stays on that device.

Bluetooth is optional. Volt can read battery levels for accessories already connected in Settings, and can detect new Bluetooth connections in the background so it can offer to save them. Volt does not use Local Network. You can deny Bluetooth and still use Volt for devices and accessories that do not need it.

Volt widgets show charge for devices you already track. Add a Volt widget from the home screen or Notification Center (iPhone and iPad) or from the Mac widget gallery, then pick the size that fits. Widgets use the same local and iCloud-backed list as the app. They do not create a Volt account.
